Any U140l owners on here?
« on: December 21, 2016, 07:01:22 pm »
About to pull the trigger on a ex ESB u140l Unimog which needs plenty of TLC to get it on the road again.

Anyone on here with a similar vehicle?

Hello Paul,

Belated Happy Christmas.

I see the racer is up for sale again ;0) but I need the money now for other projects, a u140 being one of them.

Hope you're well, hope to get to spectate at a event sometime in 2017.

Happy to co drive for you ;0)

Hello Villager,

I always fancied getting something smaller that the bigger Mog's I've owned (u1700) that is a bit more mannerly on the road.  I've had Land rover 130's but for the line of work I'm in, drilling contracting, we're often pushing them to their legal limits.

The other bonus is it came at the right money.

Still waiting on the log book, looking forward to getting it back on the road.

Keep the cooling system in good order the OM364 does not like to get hot the blocks twist and game over.

Thanks Moose.

Interesting, the pulleys don't align for the cooling fan.

Yet to get it warmed up.

I don't like these coolant flushes that you can get there a bit aggressive on gaskets change the thermostat for a genuine one, Westfield 4x4 have got them at a good price at the moment while you've got the stat out flush from the stat housing back to bottom radiator hose, then flush radiator backwards. Use a good antifreeze with an anti corrosion additive and you'll be ok. Bloody good Unimog the 140 good power to weight long legged and tough.

Thanks Moose,

Looking forward to getting it on the road and seeing how it pulls.

We're going through it with a fine tooth comb but to be fair to the ESB they looked after these trucks very well, bit like the MOD.
