Think I missed a good buy
« on: October 30, 2013, 05:36:12 pm »
I'm thoroughly miffed now! I've been away on holiday for a few days and an hour before I had to leave I spotted a nice looking U900 on ebay for £3k, buy it now! I messaged the seller and asked him to call me, but I was off before I could speak to him with little phone signal and no internet access. By the time I'd got somewhere I could look at it, it had sold :(

It had no kit on it at all apart from a PTO box, but the cab looked good and first impressions were of something that could have needed a little work to add what I need, but it was in good running order.

This has happened before.... They always come up at the very worst time! If it wasn't right up in Scotland I think I would have missed the first day of the honeymoon to view it, but it was just too far to travel. I'm now waiting to find it on the AV site for double the price. Wouldn't be the first time that's happened either! ::)

I got an email from the seller to say it's been bought unseen by AV.... Now all I need to do is dose myself up with anti depressants in preparation for seeing their asking price... :'(

I was looking at that one, it was in Stranraer just worried about the engine, e-mailed the seller asking for details, but got no reply!

I had a good chat with him on the phone. He was an oldish chap and had no idea of the hours, but said it didn't smoke when running so was in fairly good condition. He also suggested that I was crazy to consider driving it home to Gloucestershire from him though, so wasn't at all pushy with his sales pitch!

I've emailed AV - going to contact them when it's in stock but not holding my breath on the price. They're going to sell it for market value, which by the time I've added a tipper and linkage will be too much money as usual.

Epic fail on my part. I should have just bought the bloody thing and broke it up if it was knackered.
