New unimog 406
« on: September 09, 2021, 01:20:47 pm »
Hi Everyone,

Ive just prchased a refurbished 406 Ag spec (1986)

Does anybody know what the manual lever on the side of the gearbox does, at the back of the cab does, near the 4x4 lever?

Also can anybody tell me the correct air presure it should be running at, I cannot get the air cyclinder on the pick up hitch to operate?

Finally the wabco air switch in the cab that swithes between 2x4 4x4 & diff lock just has a plastic cap on it and not the switchable plastic knob as shown in the litrature, does anyone know why this might be or where i can get a replacment knob?

Im gratful for any advice,thanks

Oliver

Hi Oliver the lever on the side of the gearbox is 540/1000 rpm selector for your pto these speeds relate to an engine speed of around 2000rpm I say around because it depends what gears you have in the box.
6.5 to 7.5 bar for your air system.
The switch has the same plastic knob as some other Unimog models and is still available from a Unimog dealer.
The pickup hitch will have been fitted as they were not fitted from the factory and you want to be careful not to overload the back axle.
Where are you based ? Also let’s see some pictures

Morning,

Thanks alot for the information.

Im based near Bridgnorth, Shropshire.  Pictures of Mog wont up load as it says upload folder is full?.

Ive got to get a tipping body made/bought, i know atinison vos have some, do you know anyone that makes them, i may want a flat bed?

It has a new tipping ram fitted but not piped up, is it best to pipe it to the front hydraulics (that ill never use) or T it into the rear hydraulics that power the linckage arms.

Also it doesnt have a hydraulic trailer brake (it does have air) do you know if one can be added?

Appreciate the feedback

Oliver
