on the note of newby hall I am coming down with my 411 too see you there!!!!!!

Their place sounds like mog heaven. If I remember correctly, going back some time there was talk of the lady of the house imposing a ban on the Unimog parking going past the washing line post in the garden... So they moved the washing line! ;D

Would love to drop round one weekend and see the beast.
Would give me an idea what I'm letting myself in for and you might be able to point out where to look for on mog 411 when buying?
-
Haha! Teach me not to look closely at your profile :D I was thinking 914 truck, the 4x4 version of an 814 :P
I think there was a Vw 411 on ebay a couple of years ago (back when I owned a Vw) I can't remember what it went for though.
And yeah, it is a project, hope to get the cab of this year and get it to a rolling chassis :)

Hi villager
Thanks for the reply. I don't actually own a unimog yet. My 914 is an old two seat porsche I restored 12yrs ago.
The Germans love their type designation numbers. I used to own one of the last few remaining VW 411's and that's not unimog either. All easy to get mixed up in conversation.
That Westy project looks brill. Hours n hours of work there. Awsome

yeah, mini mogs fine, thats exactly what they are, the smallest mog ever produced (apart from the 401 and 2010) :)
big mogs are ok, but they can be a nuisance and actually limit the amount of jobs you can do :P
914 is a nice chassis, is it an ex-military one?
-
Welcome mate. 411 are smart wee mogs.
-
They pretty much are a mini mog. Like you I can't really home a full size newer model, but my 900 fits just right. Of course given the funds and space I'd have a 2100 every time!
-
Hi guys, thanks for the warm welcome. I hope it's not too long before a mog comes my way.
Like all lads I'd love the biggest most powerful and most spec'd up vehicle. But I only hav a normal height
Garage and in the middle of a council estate can't risk leaving such as a 404 out unsecured.
I hav restored and ran my 914 for over 13yrs now and lost interest. So will probably sell it to fund the 411 if there are any out there?.
Is it ok in this company to call the 411 a mini mog I don't want to be disrespectful. They still look a plenty capable machine given their age and size.
-
hi spannerman, welcome to Unimog Club UK :)
the 411 is a great machine to invest in as a hobby at the moment, as they're only going up in value :)
If you have time this summer, moose, Brian and I will be at the newby hall vintage tractor rally with our mogs and most likely Brian will be in his 411
Better put that its not my 411 before moose comes along! :o

Welcome to the forum Spannerman.
You've come to the right place if you want to meet up with UK Mog owners. Info on these vehicles always seemed hard to come by in this country until I stumbled across this place. It's building nicely now and we have a membership base that's spread quite nicely around the UK as well as abroad.
Have a good read and ask away if you have any questions. I don't know a lot about 411's but I have stumbled across lots of little snippets of info on most models in my time of mog stalking! If I don't know the answer to a question, sometimes I can find it in some obscure document that I've bookmarked! I think I need to get out more? :D
If all else fails, Villager and Moose know a huge amount between them. I haven't yet asked a question that one of them couldn't answer!

Welcome along spannerman
I hope you enjoy looking round the site and Its always good to hear different opinions :-) the 411's have a good following over here and in Germany as they are great little mogs. If you have time this summer, moose, Brian and I will be at the newby hall vintage tractor rally with our mogs and most likely Brian will be in his 411

Hi all,
I've dropped in on the site once or twice in the past and only thought it right to join properly.
I'm not a Mog owner but I am looking to buy a 411 as a project.
I work for a Mercedes passenger car dealer and have always had a fascination for unimogs and their capability.
I hope to maybe catch up and meet with a few of you at shows if not on the forums here.
Chat with you soon, Cheers
