I've just found where I recognise the U1000 from. You replied to a topic I posted on another forum in April 2010 - exactly the same background to the picture but with you sat on the back.

I've got a memory like an elephant when it comes to mogs!

I had a similar set up on my old trials Rover, took a loop of winch rope to the back through a fairlead with a hook and snatch block to let the rope pull from the front if needed, worked fine for recovery both ways :)

Looks ok to me! I suppose it could get a bit muddy down there when off roading but apart from that it seems like it will work ok.

To be honest the Winch Cradle is a bit of a Bodge job.I grafted it from the nice mount on the U1000 to the Schimdt plate on the 416 in about two hours with the welder and Gas Axe.Its a bit low,but not too bad and the great thing is that you can draw the Cable under the Machine and pull rearwards.

I will build a higher mount when I get a bit more time.

Not the best Photo but you might get the idea.

I recognise that U1000. I'm sure I've seen a picture of it with you sat on the back? You did a nice job doing it up.

Got to say your 1100 looks even better though. I have a real soft spot for round cabs! Also - I'd love to see in more detail how that winch tray fits. I need a similar setup for mine.

Hello Moose and Robert.S.

Moose. You might have met me at the APF,I went in 2007 and 2011.

I think the U1000 has done about 2000Km since I had the Cab off it.Its such a stunning Truck but I bought the other one and I need the Shed Space.

Here is a picture of the Camper I made for the 416.You can sit in bed watching TV whilst cooking a fry-up.

Hi Mike, Welcome to Unimog Club UK.

I am yet to visit Norway, but I know it's a beautiful country, and have friends that live over there. I have often thought about moving over there when I'm older, but think it may be more sensible to visit first! :D

What do you do with your Unimog? any pics?

Cheers, Brian  ;D
