Nice Unimog good dealer. From what I can tell on the picture it's 160 hp villager should no these things   :-* don't put to much weght on the back axle if your towing UK farm trailers ! Also put it in four wheel drive when putting her under real strain as the have a bad habit of breaking prop shafts and pinions other wise there a bloody good Unimog.

That's a cracking looking mog. If I could have any model I wanted I think the 1600 would be it. I like the 2100 but it's too big - the 1600 is about the best compromise of size and power.

If you manage to get a video of it working one day when you're not in too much of a rush, that would be great! ;)

Engine is supposed to be 160 hp. Ought to get it on a dyno when the local tractor dealers have one in the yard. Many of the details on the id plate have worn off.

When we towed the 404 back to where I lived in Malawi, it had water standing in the bores and needed brake fluid and other stuff to soak, then a lump of wood and a large hammer to free off the piston rings. Engine ran fine after that!

Hi Steven
Welcome to the forum, must say that even though i own a U1000 I must admit that in my view the U1600 is possibly the best Unimog of all.

A word of warning- pictures of the green oval unmentionable are frowned upon by certain members, especially when they are towing a Unimog :D

Hi Stephen, welcome to the club :)

Very nice machine you have there, I like the colour too :)
Is it the 214hp lump?

Cheers, Brian

Sounds like it will be a proper work horse. Would be nice to see some pics of her working if you get a change :-)

I guess it will be mostly trailer work, some linkage work at peak periods grass silage making, and see how we go with other jobs. Had hydraulic trailer brakes and an extra oil tank for tipping trailers added.

Hi Stephen. Welcome along! Nice looking mog, think there well be a few on here slightly jealous of a 1600 including me :-) will she just be a tow vehicle or will she be working the land?

Took delivery of the machine from South Cave yesterday to add to our farm fleet, the first Unimog on the farm.

I have owned one before, while working in Malawi, a 1957 404
