I learnt to drive in dad's 411 :) first time, drove clean through a fence :P forgot to dip the clutch :D
I hope to inherit dad's mogs one day, but recently he's talked about selling some of them  :o

Welcome to the club :-) that's a lovely little 411 and with ur family's history with it, it makes it even more special! If u ever get chance, check out moose's 411, it's a lovely little truck. plus he apparently knows a bit about them lol

Wow! If that's not been restored it looks pretty tidy as an original. Very nice indeed!

It's nice that you have the history of it and that it's been used by your family for some years. Learning to drive in it and still having it is really special. To hear that your kids are now learning in it too is just brilliant. Hopefully they'll keep hold of it and keep it tidy for many years to come (once they talk you into parting with it of course!).

I want one now! I really like the little 411.

Good, it worked, that was easier than I thought.

This is my 411 at the Castle Fraser Vintage Steam Fair a few years ago (in Aberdeenshire). I went with the 411 towing a trailer with my Grey Fergie on it. Both vehicles are working but unrestored condition.

The Mog is as close to a family heirloom as my family will get. It was used by my dad to tow a mobile dark room during the construction of gas pipelines (to develop weld radiographs) before being passed to me. It was the first vehicle I drove and I am now teaching my 5 and 7 year old sons to drive in it. Before my family had it it was used as a forestry vehicle around Coupar Angus.

Here are a few more photos of the back axle split in half. The piston (last photo) was seized into the axle so it wasn't surprising that it didn't work. Once cleaned up, put back together and bled it worked. They are a bit difficult to bleed, I used a kit that attaches to a tyre and uses the air pressure to push the fluid from the axle back to the master cylinder, must have flushed about 1 ltr through to get all the air bubbles out. I used automatic transmission fluid, couldn't find "high" pressure automatic transmission fluid. The front axle was cleaned up last night and is ready to be re-assembled. Looking forward to having all 3 lockers working.

Hi IJP and welcome to the forum :)

Myself and moose are both 411 owners, and there are a couple of other members on here who are too, moose has a full ag spec 411 118. and I have a westfalia 411 120 under cover awaiting a rebuild.

The modern heater plugs certainly do make a big difference, as long as people remember to bypass the wire coil! :)

Welcome to the forum IJP. It's nice to see another 411 owner here. Not got one myself but have a serious liking for them. It's great to see them being restored.

Mog owners of any kind seem to be hard to find. There aren't that many about. We do have a few 411 owners here though. The forum owner has one for a start.

Keep us updated with your progress with it, and feel free to ask any questions. We like to help if and when we can.

Hello Everyone,

Thought it was about time I signed up.

I have a 1968 411 in reasonable road legal condition. Have just fitted new modern heater plug which have made a huge difference to the OM636 engine. Mended the rear diff lock last week and hope to finish the front diff lock this week. Both were seized solid and need the axles stripped down.

Will post photos shortly.

Are there many other 411 owners out there?
