Thanks guys, looking around for an argon supplier now. Will let you know how the gases compare.

I've only ever welded with Argon, but I know a lot of welders who do a wide range of welding projects and they tend to prefer Argon.

I am not an expert but I know that CO2 will give you better penetration but an Argon mix will create a smoother puddle.   If you are welding sheet metal go with the Argon mix, if you are welding structural metal I would stick with CO2.

Title: mig welding question

Good morning everyone,

I have a question for you expert welders out there. I have always used CO2 from my local pub for mig welding, should I continue with CO2 or would I notice an improvement in my welding if I upgrade to a proper argon mix?
