Title: Re: Shinny new wheels
Post by: Villager on March 03, 2013, 10:26:46 pm
somebodies probably bought it to try and stick the axles under a land rover  :-\

we have quite a few parts for 411's, but we dont want to get rid of them because theyll be hard to get in the future. anybody who has the parts is keeping them for them selves.

also do you want me to move this thread to the gallery section Tim? then you can keep adding your updates to it and people can follow it :) i can change the title to what you want as well.

I think you're probably right. It came with next to no parts and has ended on £1k+ having not reached reserve. I wouldn't want to try to fix it!

Its a pleasure to work on, but it's impossible to find any parts for it. I was hoping to network with a few on here to get some of the parts that I need to help me get my mog ready to work. I'm sure that there are people in the uk with parts, but up until now I don't know who or where they are.
Germany has been the only place I have been able to buy parts. Have a look on ebay.de for unimog and there is piles of stuff for sale.

I did see that 411 on ebay. Looks like it needs a whole lot of work. Might be better suited to someone who needs a pair of axles and wheels.

How easy has it been to work on so far? There's a wreck on ebay at the moment not far from me. Last time I looked it was under £1k and I was so tempted! I can't imagine finding parts is easy?!

Sorting the hydraulics is next on the list.

What a huge improvement over the old ones. They look perfect.

It's great to see an old truck getting put back to how it should be. Too many modifications spoil classic vehicles in my opinion. What's the next job?

They're going to make that little mog look so much better. Can't wait to see the pictures of them fitted!

The picture does not do justice to just how shinny these wheels are.

This wheel is fitted with the original spare tyre. A Dunlop 7.5 x 18 AS special agri V tread, while the other 4 are looking good with their new tyres fitted. They are an exact copy of the Continental AS Special, again an agri V tread pattern. Good for road and field.

I tried to buy new tyres for my mog over here in the UK, but 7.5 x 18 agri tyres don't seem to exist over here. In the end I picked up a set in Germany while on holiday in my VW camper. Ah the smell of rubber. I don't think the misses was to happy with the smell of 4 tyres during the last leg of our summer holiday. lol

I just picked up my wheels the other day and had the tyres fitted. Can't wait to get them fitted onto my 411.

All part of the slow restoration project.
