Title: Re: The 500sec challenge
Post by: Rabbit Recovery on October 14, 2015, 09:59:40 pm
They must have known what they were doing with your w123! The SEC is spider heaven!

Re the Ranger, a replacement engine would be easier but I have priced the parts from a company I trust and it looks like just over £600 for cam, 4 Pistons, liners, main bearings, shims, gaskets, rockers, clutch and anything else I could think of. The joys of a mass produced Mazda engine! And as most people are looking for between £600 and £1200 for an unwarranted 2nd hand lump I think I best invest some time stripping mine and checking it will go again first.  :)

you'd think they new what they were doing :P The interior on my w123 is unbelievably tidy, even with a smashed rear window there's not even any spiders in there!

Bad news about the motor, not easier to just fit a new engine?

Nope no drilling required. Merc had even though of that! After I had bailed most of it out and lifted the carpet I found rubber drain bungs! :D

Anyway it will be a while longer as the ranger that I have has it now appears a broken cam shaft, 2 broken rockers, a badly burnt piston and a pitted piston!  :'( Time to rebuild that one first and another delay to getting the cab heater installed in the Mog.   :-\

Lovely :) glad i didn't have to clean the swamp out though! Did you just drill a hole in the floor to clear it?
I like the interior colour, better than the bright blue on my W123 anyway  :D

More shots of the basket case!
It has now been drained of its swap and parked up in the barn and shut away until I feel really brave  :D

Well it was the father in laws, it has stood idle for 14 years and is now in my finances name. Consequently it is now my basket case!  :o
