I would imagine that it will be a diff-lock seal as the pressurised transmission was only fitted for a very short period, and it was around the time of the 1550.
If I remember right there is a way to know on the very early Unimog's (we're talking 2010/401 here) but there isn't a way on the later mogs, Don't quote me on the 2010/401 bit though :P .

Is the wading kit the one that pressurises the transmission, axles etc?
If so how is that actuated as there is an airlock from the carden shaft door when the diffs are locked that I assumed to be failed locker seals (my U1000 has that job to do :-\).
And yes I did think that was a big knob on the end of my dipstick :o
Very little welding to do (just the windscreen surround) which i very welcome after the epic U1000 cab rebuild!
Is there any way to tell age from a Mercedes chassis number?

Ooh - I see a turret in the roof. I wonder what that will be useful for?! If you need a driver, you know where I am!

Good to see you are keeping the faith Tony! Lets have a "field" day what the rain stops? My daughter has a boyfriend with a Mog and NJC is local - that almost makes a meeting doesnt it? Better still if I can find some timber to extract!!

Hmm... Maybe I should have checked in here before I sent the "are you busy at the moment?" text!

Glad it looks like it's working out. You mentioned last time I saw you that there was a possibility of you picking this one up. If you need a hand doing basic spanner work on it, give me a shout. I'm always up for tinkering with mogs!

You can see it has the wading kit as the breather pipes for the hubs, axles, and gearbox are all mounted at the back of the cab.
If it's still there you'll also have a big rubber cover that goes over the end of your dip stick :) (And no, I'm not talking about a latex device that is famed for having been stretched over a mini in the past!)

I'll see if I can sort you a data card, but I doubt it as it's a military chassis.

Chassis No is 435 115 10 001871 if anyone knows the age?
What does the wading kit consist of?
I have a Palfinger PK5000 crane kicking about that may get thrown on th back😀
I plan to do a bit of work on it and then drive it back sometime in the next few months.

Even though I haven't finished the U1000 i have gone and bought another Mog!
Origenally i planned to brake it for bits but it is too good and so it is coming home so that I have something to do when I finish the U1000!
