I have the Mercedes splitter but if your stuck use two hammers either side and strike simataniusly it will let go eventually wear safety glasses.

Just wondered if anybody could recommend a good ball joint splitter, as all the ones we have access to are too small, or broken? Got to do a couple of boots for the test tomorrow.  ::)

Cheers,

Ah ha. Halfords it was. Time to run and hide from the good lady.  ;)

Hmm very nice! I wish I had seen this post about a sale sooner.

When you are at Machine Mart pick up a 3/4 knuckle bar as well. The breaker bar in the Halfords set will not be long enough for many things that you need the 3/4 sachets for.  :)

If it's the Halfords sale you meant, Paul, it's still half price on all their Advanced Pro socket sets :)
If it's the Machine Mart one you meant, well, you know those are like buses, another one will be along in a week or so!

Mmm shiney! 😊 hope they dont stay that way for long haha

I've had a Halford set for about 5 year. Ratchets are a bit tired now but still fine, where as the box..... It spoils the set realy. Why can't they just spend a few more quid on the box! By the sounds of it they have the same problem still.

Well, sorted ourselves out with some vehicle-appropriate gear today, courtesy of Halfords sale :) - plus trade card...

Needed to update my toolbox a bit, so thought this was a good opportunity to get some Mog-appropriate gear.

21-piece 3/4" drive socket set, Halfords Advanced Professional range (goes up to 50mm), and a 25-piece combination spanner set (up to 32mm). Good-looking, nice solid sockets, and decently hefty bars and spanners - just a shame about the shoddy plastic box the sockets come with! Most buyers who left reviews of this product said the same: great tools, crappy box.

Waiting for Sunday and the VAT-free night at Machine Mart, as the Halfords socket set doesn't come with a ratchet.

The socket set retails at £200 normally. £100 in the sale, and with trade card got it for £80.  8) Liking the sound of the lifetime guarantee, too.  I've never had any problems with my other Halfords Professional set - me and my Dad smashed a few components and they were replaced without question. Hoping these sets will be just as useful :)

What a nice sparkly haul, eh? If anybody's interested, the link to the socket set is below:
