Ibbetts are getting 2 406s in very soon.😢

404 seems to be the more reasonably priced way to get into mog ownership. I wanted mine for work, running a chipper and log splitter etc so bought a 406. That's what I'd tend to view as a proper Unimog, as in universal. But for off roading a 404 takes some stopping! It'll put a 101 to shame of that I'm certain!

What part of the country are you from ? By the sounds of it you are better looking at a 404 fit some v treads on it an LPG kit a rear mount winch a cab roll cage and that will walk all over a forward control or a 303 plus parts are good to get hold of and there still available for reasonable money. Yes there are better mogs but they cost three times the money. If your not far from us it would be easier to visit and talk Unimog. We're based in Yorkshire and we rally Unimogs 😀

I don't know a lot about them if I'm honest. I prefer the look of the 70's and 80's ones, I wouldn't want a new one.
I would like a diesel engine, and if possible a PTO winch.
My main hangup is I need to be able to drive on a normal car license, so i can only drive something up to a 3.5 tonner.
I would like to take it off road a bit, heavy vehicle trials etc. and recovery at 4x4 trials. Other than that I will just cruise around in it at weekends.
I am also considering a Volvo C303 or a forward control Land Rover if im honest, :-\ as it may be easier.

i started to write something but this subject is massive what I would say is don't allways go for something newer and low mileage Unimog are better worked and loved than something that's sat for years. Keep us informed at what your looking at and we'll advise what the pros and cons are.

I need to make some room on the driveway first. Is it registered as a truck or agri?

Hi, thought i would join up here as I'm soon going to be looking to buy a Mog.
I will have probably lots of questions relating to what ones i can drive on a car license etc but will have a proper read up on here first.
