Depending on spec level between 10 to 20k high ratio axles on older Unimogs are a rarity

Most of our contacts are in Europe or dealers in the UK. By the sounds of it you want a 416 with high ratio axles 👍moose
I appreciate the advice. What budget would I need for a 416 with high ratio axles? A ballpark would help please - thanks in advance.

Are they on the for sale page? I am looking for one as well.
What model ? Mick and for what purpose as this is more important off-roader implement carrier motorhome we don’t sell Unimog but know off plenty for sale 😀
It might be an idea for the owner to put the Mogs for sale either on here or the FB page Moose? These are pretty niche outside of commercial use.
I like the look of the older Mogs and want one that is road legal (with half decent modern traffic speed) to drive from an urban location to things like pay 'n' play days.

Dona? Doka?

We all dream I fancy a Dona 1550 at the moment 😀😀😀

There is the rub, I have more wants and desires than cash!
Looking for a small machine, preferably ag spec, three point linkage and PTO, I am a fairly competent mechanic, so providing it would not cost a fortune to put right I do not mind something that needs work. Not a welder, so hopefully decent tin work.
Use, working vehicle on farm, possibly some arb work, but own use only, not commercial.
Road legal would be nice but not essential, diesel preferable.
Have just bought a MF203 so the three point linkage is not as vital as once was, A hiab and tipping body would be perfect.
All for about £10 if possible!
Have been looking for several years, so not in a rush, just want a nice nimble truck for use about the farm.
Sorry it is a bit of a rambling wish list, but it is smaller than it once was, at one time it would have been an overland camper!
Cheers

Hi Dandy and welcome to the forum :)
Any Ideas of a budget for a Unimog?
Cheers, Brian
Hi Brian - many thanks - lots of useful info here.
I don't have a firm budget - it will largely depend on the vehicle. I am collating information and average values for the type of Mogs I like. There seems to be some good value ones on the continent.

Yes you will be able to drive a 406 on your current licence.
The law does not differentiate between vehicle types, just the vehicle weight,
Thanks for the confirmation - much appreciated.
The Govt guidance was a bit misleading.
-
If your wanting a toy you would be better of with a 416 far more stable of road or a 100l or a 140 maybe a 1250 as there all under 7.5 tonnes

Hi Gents,
Thanks for the pointers - my preference is more towards the 406.
Quick question - apologies in advance if its daft - do I need a HGV to drive a 406? I have a Grandfather rights C1 licence, which permits me to drve up to 7.5 tonne. The only reason I ask is becasue the Guidance from HMG only seemed to recognize agricultural Unimogs (driven on a B licence) or a 'HGV' Unimog which was driven on a C (HGV) licence.
Thanks in advance :)

Welcome dandy.
Glad you enjoyed the site, Villager, moose and our members have put a lot of work into it to make it what it is today.
Nice to hear your looking into buying one. All I'd say is find the model you would like first, then decide what spec you want on it. There's lots to choose from but if you need help or have questions just put them up. I'm sure someone can help!

Hi Everyone I just thought I would say hello and that I am looking forward to eventually scratching a long term itch and getting a Mog.
This resource is fantastic and there are some great Mogs out there - really enjoying reading the stories and journeys these thing have with you all!
Cheers!
