What's the dates? I must try to make it this year even if it means spending a fortune on fuel.

Are we any closer to a pto powered spit roaster? Now I have the mog I could maybe knock one up myself. Linkage mounted would be perfect, although it would have to be long so we don't strip the paint off of the tailgate!

Work's starting to calm down in September, hopefully I'll be able to be a bit more organised and make that one. Six mogs and I missed it! :'(

Post by: Villager on June 10, 2013, 09:39:30 pm
yes, plenty of photos were taken  :D

The usual chaps turned up, including our selves in the 411 and 406 145, and our friend Chris in his 417 and '61 411.
and of course casto turned up in his 406 :) and another person turned up in a 1750, i didnt get a chance to talk to them though :(

Saturday night myself, casto and James got very drunk, and i tried mulled Cider for the first time which was disgusting  :-\ then i went onto a so called "dry" cider, which if i was to be generous was a medium  :-\ i finally found a decent cider from a bottle  :P

I have to do an event report, but shall post in this thread when i do it :P

EDIT: mulled cider, not wine  :-[

As I couldn't make it, how did it go? I ended up working Saturday and doing weeding for my other half's grandad on Sunday! Hope you guys don't have too much of a hangover?

I think that makes sense. Different people have different overheads so it's hard to judge how much they make on a given rate.
Title: Re: Newby hall Vintage rally
Post by: Villager on June 05, 2013, 10:31:31 pm
i'll pm you, dont want people getting upset cause im saying a cheaper price than they actually charge :)
Title: Re: Newby hall Vintage rally
Post by: njc110381 on June 05, 2013, 10:26:46 pm
The trouble is we do price work. The longer the grass gets left the longer it takes to mow and the profit drops. Better to mow it twice in the same time scale - get paid twice for the same amount of work!

What's the going rate up your way for paddock mowing with the mog? PM me if you'd prefer?
Title: Re: Newby hall Vintage rally
Post by: Villager on June 05, 2013, 10:07:46 pm
just tell them the grass needs to grow to get stronger stems ;) and that the rate for that is £35 per hour :D
Title: Re: Newby hall Vintage rally
Post by: njc110381 on June 05, 2013, 10:04:59 pm
You're putting forward some pretty good arguments that's for sure. A lift in the 411 is a good bribe. But we're behind on the mowing, it's not something I can ignore unfortunately.

I may be able to make Sunday, but it's not looking good. As you say though Brian, work is money and money is good. I won't get my own mog by coming to shows! :-\

Technically its a business trip as your researching unimogs and ur potential investment in one :)

That is by far the best argument ever. not only is it persuading, but its also accurate  ;)

Post by: njc110381 on June 04, 2013, 05:46:47 pm
There's no chance of me making it on Friday - my colleague is away on holiday next Tuesday so we're going flat out at work this week. May not even have Saturday spare by the sound of things, which is a shame.

I'll see what I can work out. May have to give this one a miss due to timing. Either that or just jump in the car, come up for the day and deal with the fuel cost! :'(

oh, and frankly im disappointed, no spit roast  :o would be fairly simple on that id think, 2 lengths of 1x1 box with a slot in them to slide on the ends, with a round notch in the top for the rod ;)
Title: Re: Newby hall Vintage rally
Post by: Villager on June 03, 2013, 10:37:29 pm
needs some work on the rear axle, when we were building the off road course at wentworth there was a load of snow, driving around and it started making a funny noise. its just a bearing face though, it had been sat for 10 years or more, so after a drive down to germany and more the bearings a bit tired. :P

406* ;) nah, dads coming over Saturday i think :P

oops, didnt realise there were 2 pages  :-\

we're just south of harrogate, so we're in the complete wrong direction for york :( but i'll be going around 4pm on friday, so if you can get the train to harrogate (best route via leeds, not sure if thats the only route  ???) i'll give you a lift in the 411!  :D ;D probs take around an hour to get to Newby :P I'll be leaving Newby on sunday.  :) bring everything in a bag or 2 though as i wont have any sides on the 411 so theyll need strapping on  ;) food we can get from ripon :)

Where exactly are you guys based? I'm looking at alternative methods of transport as the car will apparently cost me the best part of £200 round trip... :o

If I can make it, what's the chances of blagging a lift from York train station?

Just a reminder about this, its on this weekend, so its to late to attend with a vehicle if you havent already submitted your form, but you can still attend without a vehicle. Times and costs etc are here : http://newbyhallandgardens.com/site/?p=4309

We will be taking the Green 406 145 this year, along with the Orange 411 118.

Casto is also supposed to be bringing a half tonne BBQ this year as well  :D :P which means i dont need to bring ours  ;)

I will try to make it - We want to go to the Allrad meeting in Bad Kissingen / Germany the week before - So it will depend on timing. Would love to meet-up.

I have a 1992 Unimog Doka - Just completed the initial restoration. Next step is adding the living box on the back.

Title: Re: Newby hall Vintage rally
Post by: Villager on February 17, 2013, 06:53:54 pm
I would say thats old enough, we took a brand new u500 to a classic rally once and they just waved us in  ;D but it was an impressive looking piece of kit, had full mulag kit on it front and rear.
I would just send the application of, i doubt there will be an issue, last year there were loads of 110/90 land rovers, and theyre not going to be that old.
Hope to see you there  :) what model do you have?

This year Unimog Club UK will be attending Newby halls vintage rally, which is run by the Yorkshire Vintage Association (http://theyva.com/index.html) . We would be grateful If other Unimog owners would attend this with us, last year (before the club was made) we had a total of 6 Unimogs just by coincidence, so this year we are hoping for even more, the more Unimogs there are, the more people become aware of them!  :)  If you are interested please fill in this form HERE (http://theyva.com/6.html) (please send it as a tractor, this way we are all together)

This is a camping event, so we can chill out on an evening and have a few drinks around the barbecue and if i manage to find a projector we could even watch a few Unimog videos!

If you are interested in attending, or maybe you've already completed the form 8) then please reply to this thread so i know approximately how may people are going. if you have completed the form and posted it please say so.

This is an opportunity for us all to get to know each other better and also to look at each others Unimogs and get ideas for our own.

So lets get together and have some fun! :D

Cheers, Villager
