yeah, id like to stick a vxr lump in my van eventually, but i cant at the mo cause of the insurance, then my dad starts talking about when he was young (and naive as he owned landrovers back then :o ) he used to stick all sorts of engines in them, from v6's to Chevy v8's and he never had to think about the insurance going up :(
i cant understand how poeple on corsa-c get insurance, i live in a b grade insurance area, and we're paying a fortune.

Insurance for youngsters is a joke - I feel for you I really do.
My opinion is that people who mess up should be made to pay. Why should you have to pay for someone elses mistakes? Ok, you're young and a higher risk, but not all kids drive badly. I know plenty of blokes in their 40's that have been banned for drink driving, speeding at over 100 etc - they shouldn't be trusted with a moped and they don't pay as much as I do.
I'm 32 and pay about £500 fully comp for a 350bhp Audi S4. Some days I drive it like I stole it but because of my age my insurance isn't too bad. It's a real shame youngsters get hammered like they do, it's so unfair.

yeah, but vans are different as they assume youre going to be carrying goods or tools (even though they arent generally covered under the policy), and that youre gonna be driving like a moron and doing a lot of miles a year.
and when i mention the ones on corsa-c uk theyre ranging from 17 years old to 20, im coming up to 20 and were paying twice as much as the 17 year olds with heavily modded cars, and im the second driver :-\ im looking to insure it personally, with my mum as a second driver (as thats meant to drop the price quite a bit), so i get a bit of no claims behind me.
-
Plus ur young Brian. My defender actually dropped when i insured it as a work vehicle
-
its a fast van though, 1.7 cdti so 100bhp under the bonnet, its basically classed as the sports version of the vans. although on corsa-c uk people do get insured for the 1.7 cars for 600-1000, and thats lowered, custom exhausts etc, so yeah, i think we are being robbed basically, you can expect vans to be a bit more expensive but a grand more is a bit to much more :-[

£2k for a little van? They're having a laugh surely? Your renewal date isn't April 1st is it? :o
-
2000 for the van, and thats on my dads policy :-\ im only a second driver
-
About 600 for it but covers business. It's the same company as the mog
-
how much do you pay for the defender and who with?
-
well the quote was 400 today! It's gone up since last year, its not like its on the roaf every day like the defender
-
flaming amateurs :-\ :P try the skipton branch, theyll probably sort it, although they did get a bit expensive, hence why we switched.
-
They couldn't find it on the system at the York branch. Had to describe it 2 them, they said they would ring back but never did!
-
youre having a laugh :o , dad was insured with nfu for years, 3-5 unimogs, think they must know what a mog is after that. is that the skipton branch?
you might want to try bluefin, they arent bad.
-
It's that dreaded time of year. Insurance renewal. I'm with 'trust insurance' at the moment as they are arb specialist. Anyone know any decent companies to try? Nfu don't know what a mog is!
