The welding a nut to a bolt is a personal favourite of mine, it proovides a heating and "quenching" element at the same time. Another method to stop the bolt snapping is to work it back and forth a bit, for example 1 turn out, half turn in, 1 turn out, can be time consuming but it's saved a lot of bolts in my time.

Another one is removing bearings from a tight housing using a weld bead to shrink it.

One of my favourites is removing broken studs by either welding a nut or washer on & then just unscrew them.

Thought I would start a thread here for workshop tips & home made tools etc doesn't have to be Unimog or M.B Trac specific but would prefer if they were relevant  for either or their implements.
