Post by: mogmaner on October 11, 2013, 06:19:47 pm
Bought as a very ugly beast fitted with a 2.5 fortrack engine that did not fit under the hood ,Once the engine was remover i desided to do some thing a little diffrent  .Now i wonder how would a 2.8 kubota 6 pot  or 2.8 nissan 6 pot fit in my 404?

Regarding the engine you can make anything fit :) just depends on the effort required :P personally if youre after improving fuel economy id go with an OM616, i think they actually fitted the 615 to 404's from the factory, but theyre rare. the 616 is a nice engine, not the most powerfull but they rev well, so youd probably maintain a similar top speed :)
