Title: Good evening chaps! Mog Newbie warning! :O)
Post by: Chalkie52 on March 04, 2017, 10:49:15 pm
Unimog newbie here. Used to be into my landrovers and then fancied something a bit more tastier! :O) Think I've bought a 406? but am not all up on the Mogs yet. Just starting to find my feet with parts, mechanicals, etc.. I'm a Hydraulic Hose monkey by trade but also a plant fitter so not afraid to break a nail. More looking for a new challenge. Met the Moose and his lad earlier so dropped by! I've rather cheekily added a pic of the Mog and its VIN if anyone can enlighten me on anything it'd be greatly appreciated!  Already a few bits on my shopping list; rag top, big knobbly tyres, etc so let the fun begin!

Anyway, thought I'd say a quick hello!

Kind regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,  welcome along.

Nice 404 there, how standard is she? I can see someone has had a play with the bumper (added lights) which I kinda like 😊.

I look forward to seeing what you do to her

Cheers, casto

It seems pretty standard/unbutchered ex-German Army LHD. The M180 has been replaced with a Ford D-series engine and the back has had some seats put in as it was used as transport for game beaters. The bumper black out lights had been chopped so I put the LEDs in. After that I replaced the old German headlight bulbs with some more brighter ones so a lot better. Would be nice to keep it original but that'd not be much fun!? :0( Haha! Bit undecided at the moment.
Thanks for the messages Guys!

Not bad Dave you got the answer you were after it's a 1961 404 nice little machine look out for some 406 drum brake wheels fit her with some 12.5 v treads and few more mods springs etc and that will travel very well

Not too sure.. Went to Shrewsbury to get them. Could only get 2 in the BMW.. other two got lashed to the roof! :0) Haha! - I'll have a look tomorrow! I'm pretty sure they'll go straight on my ex-German Army 12.5x 20 rims? 😕
