Title: Hopefully you lot will be some help to me!
Post by: CJ1990 on November 12, 2017, 11:32:03 pm
Hi guys

Just a short hello!

Will be asking many questions after buying my first mog.

A 1974 406 with 6 speed cascade transmission, front a rear twin speed PTO, front 3 point linkage, rear mounted Werner H64 air/pto winch and an Atlas crane[attach=1] 👍🏼

Welcome cj

she's a nice little mog! Looks like it's been patched on the passenger side, front corner?
Is the crane run through the reverse pto box on the front?

Thanks casto

Yeah she has had a little repair which needs redoing as it's pretty poorly done.

The crane runs off the front pto however it doesn't go through a reverser box its straight off the shaft.

Yeah that's the one Moses. Does yours have rear stabilisers? Would you mind posting a pic of your crane mount/setup please

I built the crane base myself it’s three point mounted behind a doka cab I’ll have to sort some pictures 😀

Ah I've seen your mog! YouTube flail mowing?

Have you just got the standard stabilisers on it moose?

I find with mine that when I reach over the back corners it feels a little unstable as the suspension compresses hence why I'm thinking of getting rear stabilisers too.

I haven’t got an anti roll bar fitted just balls of steel 😀 ask NJC on here he had one ! Yours will roll more being mounted behind the cab better for lifting as it’s more stable

On the doka we have the legs coming out as standard, but we have converted them to swing up about 35 degrees :)

So you only have the single set of stabilisers.

Do you find it plenty stable enough while working over the corners of the vehicle? When I lift or slew over my rear wheels the suspension on the back axle compresses significantly which makes her feel a little unstable.

Certainly capable enough for what we need, we've lifted some heavy stuff in the past, what you've got to remember is we have the full weight of the gear box, engine, front axle, werner F56 winch and Werner winch blade pulling the front of the mog down, whereas just behind the cab there is much less leverage pulling the front down.
