Title: Hi from Hampshire hunting a Mog

Hi
I've been wishing for a mog since I saw what I think was a 404 at broxhead common a couple of years ago what presence it had!. I've finally decided its time to search in earnest.
I don't know a great deal about them if I'm honest, plenty of experience with series Landies, I have a couple of a 3's, a one ton and  a 2b forward control that I'm slowly rebuilding  so I'm hoping to get a mog that's already up and running.
It's purely for pleasure really, although I'd love to justify as being useful with a hiab I suspect it's road going habits will limit the distance Iii want to travel with it!
I love the look of the cabs on the short wheel base 404/406 shape but I haven't really got my ahead around the various models, I don't need 3 point linkage but a hiab could be handy...
Any advice is welcome!

Hi Trebro,

Im not sure where n Hampshire you are, but I have a 404 I drive around Romsey and Southampton. If your local enough I could sort out a drive out in it for you.

If you have never been in a Mog and would like a go and are nearby, you are welcome to come and take a look and have a drive.

As far as driving round is concerned, I happily drive round the local lanes, even have it on the A roads, mine is happy at 45mph, but I have it over 55mph on the A roads easily enough. I use mine like a conventional pick up and and moved all kinds of things with it.

Its a different experience to other vehicles. I have more fun in the Mog at 45mph than I do in a Porsche.

Although mine isnt for sale right now, I have seen a few on ebay lately, but they all look either hopelessly expense or in need of quite a bit of work. Mine is largely standard with the addition of a LPG conversion kit from 'GOTpropane' based in the US. And I have converted it into a 4 door to make it more sociable.

What is your budget for a mog? I know where there are a couple of 416's for sale in different conditions.
