Bet you cant wait to get your hands on it, looks a great buy.

Too right! Mind you, got to find somewhere offroad for it to sit while it gets registered and plated... it's too wide to fit through the gateposts into our garden!  :-[  ::)

That is a nice mog! I've not seen a doka with that size cab on it, it's vast!

How do you manage to sit in it and not put the lights and siren on! 😂

LOL yeah, the temptation will be high... but helped by the fact that the blue lights at least will have to be covered before it hits UK roads.
Spotted this on VK Cars' website, and knew it was the one for us. We've not seen the super-long DOKA before either - awesome, isn't it? Very happy.

Yep, that's the plan! We had a Volvo C306 last year that needed some welding of plates on by the doorsills... very happy that this one doesn't have that problem!

No more photos after these, honest!

That last pic is of the rustiest part of the cab - no surprises, it's the door sill.  ::)

Hi all,

here are some pics of the U1300L 37 with 3-window DOKA cab that we are hoping to bring into the UK towards the end of April. Going over to IJmuiden to pick it up and bringing it back on the ferry to Newcastle.
28,500km on the clock, fast axles and the OM352 engine... plus PTO water pump and front hydraulics... exhaust brake too - I think we're going to have fun! Just a shame it doesn't have a roof hatch...  :D
BTW, if we post the VIN number, could one of you guys decode it for us?
We've decided that as we're going to be using it to move house, among other things, it's probably going to be most practical to get it plated and tested as a private HGV to begin with. Luckily Sue (the driver) has the C1 category on her license.  8)
We're also considering running it on veg oil at some point. ATG does what looks like quite a comprehensive kit, and it's TUV approved, though it's pricey  :-\
Hoping the image attachment works...

Introduce Yourself / New Moggers :)
« on: April 02, 2016, 10:10:01 pm »
Hi all,

me and the wife are in the process of importing a U1300L 37 ex-German fire truck to the UK from Belgium. It's a 1981 DOKA extra-long cab (the kind with three side windows and 8 passenger seats), with the roller-shutter box back and big diamond plate side steps. Fast axles with the OM352 engine. It has a PTO pump and also front hydraulics... might come in handy!
We've both wanted to get a Unimog for a long time (Sue blames her long-time Mog love affair on being given one of the little Matchbox toy ones as a child).
We're going to be using it to help us move house sometime in the next six months, then onwards from there as we are looking to live and work in some fairly challenging countryside :D
Clever Hans (yes, we've named the truck already) will be entering the UK towards the end of April.
Once we've figured out how to post pics and where, we'll do that. Nice to be here!
