The South / Re: Sunday 29th September Slab Common, Bordon

Wonder why that is ? Is there still a heavy truck trial scene in the UK nowadays. When we have finished the 416 off-roader we will be looking to do some events in the UK.
I'd love to do a speed event with offroad trucks but I think the rules and legal is complex I think that's why the breslau is held in Poland not Germany.

By heck bet it doesn't slow down going uphill !! You could put higher crown wheel and pinion but the short wheel base is very unstable at higher speeds.
Enjoy

There's something about the 411s when you drive them, as long as your not in a rush it's like going back to a bygone time when there wasn't the rush we have nowadays. I love going out first thing in the morning bright fresh morning no traffic no rush  :). got to say though a 411 short wheelbase with a top speed of thirty miles per hour and as short a wheelbase at that some people still struggle to overtake me ! And yet when I'm in the Black Mog doing sixty miles an hour they try to overtake in the most ridicules places and when approaching a junction they think you are doing 25 mph and pull out in front of you.
The thing to do is sod em and enjoy your machine.

Introduce Yourself / Re: Mogless Newbie

Is she a 1750 it's difficult to tell from the pictures, if your looking to turn her into an Overlander it would  be better suited as a 50. I'm sure this Mog was at Newby hall last year. She will make an awsome overlander but a new set of xm47 will set you back a bit in that size  :)

£1500 for a used PTO centraliser ! I think you can buy a good new copy part from some dealers for around £800, do you need one or want one I've found that most kit fits with a longer shaft, you can also move the shaft under the Rockinger with a home made bracket but the shaft will hit the axle when the Mog is fully loaded so by the time you've made a bracket and made a thinner shaft (not easy) a banana box would be the best option.

in the 90s when the doka 406s were released loads were converted to single cabs, there value has gone up over the years it's the same with classic tractors the crapy tractors are worth more now than good one look at gray Ferguson good tractor loads of them around can be bought for good money . Not that the doka was crap but it's not as practicle without the load bed  :)
Also take the westfalia 411s  twenty years ago they were being broken for parts now they are hard to come by there value is rising now.

Yep Brian & I pulled the pictures to bits when we saw them especially under the bonnet with dinitrol splashed all over, maybe Brian can find the pictures again.
I'd like to go over to the Netherlands in my 411 but Southern Germany was a long drive in a 160hp u900 ! You should fit your Audi engine into a 411.
I must say I've just become a vw owner and I could fancy a van with your engine conversion  :)
On reflection I'll drive to Gagganau in my 411 for the 70 years  :D 2021 god that's scary

Nice to see the doka as mine looked when I got it nearly twenty years ago. Brian sent me a link recently for one that sold in auction for over 60k ! And I thought I didn't have a pension  :D
We'll be going over next year to that one did you go in the van ?

UNIMOG OWNERS !!!
A word of warning to anyone with a cascade gearbox be it in a 421 or 406 NEVER leave the cascade lever in neutral with the engine running, there is a grub screw that can work loose not a problem if it is in gear but when in the neutral position this screw can vibrate lose and jam the lever in the neutral position.
It's a engine out and gear box strip! Also never leave your main gearbox in gear you will weaken the synchromesh springs !! Fix your handbrake  :D

Your equipment / Re: Every one needs a universal motor Gerat.
« on: August 15, 2014, 07:47:10 am »
I wish I had room for all those implements ! I've got to many Unimogs no room for more toys. I have a 2m grass flail and a log splitter and some winches but the crane is the handiest peice of kit we have, now we have an under belly PTO it's joy to use.
All that kit looks good on your 411 in proportion  :)

When you think that in 1976 Unimog had all round disc brakes, coil suspension, cross axle difflocks, a massive 5.7 l engine with a twenty speed gearbox ETC in a vehicle with a footprint the size of a land rover !
