Looking good!

If the hub got that hot i would as a minimum replace the oil if you haven't already as it may well have lost its lubricating properties and secondly check the seals have not suffered from the heat. I had a over heating pair of front hubs (due to failing bearings in my case) and it cooked the seals....  ::)

Oh and which engine does it have? Plus were the oil seals a drama?

Welcome Dan,

Many on here have the Land Rover disease as well. To be fair i think that other than the 130 101 that i saw done as a camper i would agree that the 101 would be too small. Other than that i am probably of little help but i am sure that the rest will be along soon. Look out for Villager and Moose plus plenty more as sound sources of knowledge and advice.

Thank you Moose. I will confirm with Stuart what he is doing as he led me to believe that he was fitting a turbo engine and from you comments above it makes me think i am chasing after the wrong designation manuals.

Cheers Paul

What a great idea!! time for something similar on my mog as that makes it so much of an easier job.

A good friend of mine is embarking upon swapping engines in his camper from a 208D to 310D.  ???

Does anyone know where he can get workshop manuals for both from? He has been helping me with the U1000 and was overjoyed with the manuals. He has been to a local Mercedes commercial parts outlet but they were less than helpful.

Sorry all I have been unavoidably grumpy for some months and not checking in as I had 6 months enforced no Mog rest due to a bad back.

To say I wasn't a hay Bunny is an understatement. 😒

The company I used for my master cylinder was Past Parts. They specialise in brake and clutch refurbishment. Great to deal with a the refurbished master I had don was bored out, a stainless tube inserted and then machined back to standard to allow standard replacement seals in future. Great service and the fraction of the price of a new unit.

Rob & Sue,

That is a great little link you have put up from benzworld that I had not seen. It looks like I have some fabrication to do as my drivers side hub definitely suffers from this! It is something that I have always worried about and had assumed that capillary action was to blame but had never seen a solution to before.

Thank you,

Paul
