Smashing looking mog youv got there shaun. Wow that furniture polish has worked a treat, i wunt av thought you could get them clear again once they had gone misty, used to have one of them old canvas frame tents and we could never get the windows translucent all the time we had it.

thanks for that Nick, i had nothing to loose so it was worth a try, i was also amazed at how well it worked.

i took the radiator out last night, as i couldnt turn the engine over by hand and when turning the fan it just turned the pulley and not the engine
it does turn over now with a ratchet and socket, i was fearing the worse as it had been stored in the hanger at work with no spark plugs in, but it seems fine
will know for sure once i have it running, i have a new engine with it so i can always swap it over!

does anyone know if there are repair panels available for the front edge of the drivers floor? just behing the pedal cover plate. this is the only bad bit i can find on her. looks like at some time water had been sat in there, and the edge has rotted a little, or is it a case of habving to make one myself!

Just been reading my thread again and noticed some spelling mistakes, sorry! I blame this keyboard, can't blame auto correct as the mistakes are not even words!  :D :D

So a small update, been doing little bits in between working in the house, I wanted to reduce the rear chassis overhang a little, have seen quite a lot done, but most are really short, I did not want to go crazy, just better than what they are standard.
So I chopped it down a little, and have shortened the supports also.
I took off the rear tow jaw, it's big and heavy. I am going to fit a u.k. NATO hitch. It won't be used for towing, just something extra for when off roading.
Filled some holes in the rear cross member to clean it up, as I am going to fit swivelling recovery shackles there, (for towing out others! Hopefully not the other way round!)  ;)

To much over hang you will get caught out trying to reverse up a tree lol

the rear is bolted, so i just drilled some new mounting holes, the rear most load bed mounting is riveted, so i drilled them out and will bolt it back in its new position.

i will leave the front as is, originally i was going to look for a winch to mount up front, but after seeing them fitted it extends the front too much.
so i have now got a nice winch (off a 406) and i am going to mid mount it so it can be used from the rear or the front! just need to look for an electric/hydraulic pump, not fussed if its slow.

That's a lovely looking truck Shaun. Looks like new.
I know there is a 3M product that is used to good effect to polish clear  plastics to. Works with visors/ headlamps etc. Think it's basically 3 different grits of polishing compound.
Though if pledge works already.
I would be delighted to have  just a small patch of rust on the floor!
On the tipper ram on my 404 it is a 12v pump. The truck is 24v but they have used a large lump of metal to connect it to reduce the voltage.

I can't see this mod being an industry standard.

Nice Unimog looks very tidy, there is a specific product for cleaning vinal windows I think it was nikwax that made it. The polish will need replenishing as the wax will be acting as a filler in the fine scratches. strangely enough I bought the door tops for my 411 at the same time as a good friend of mine bought the same, he pampers his Mog and spends most of its time indoors where mine is outside all year round mine have stayed clear where his have dulled. Saying that his body work has stood the test of time better than mine !
