The Landmog project: Worlds slowest!

Hi everyone  :)

Thought its about time id make a build thread for one of our many, many projects :D
so, i'll start with the landmog, as its the first mog my dad ever owned, he got it in 1990/91 with an absolutely shot cab! it would have looked something like this in good condition

anyway, after a couple of years (and many cracking tales brought about from it) (about 1993/94) he put the land rover cab on... and fell out with it. it was no longer a unimog to him, so he donated it to me (shaaaame  :D ) i was born in 93, so that tells you how old i was. anyway, it sat in a barn for many years untill around 2001 when we moved it to our house (the rule is we cant go past the washing line, so as weve gained more projects, weve moved the washing line!  ;) ) and there it sat for a while before i decided to make a move, the plan is to make a bit of a breslau project out of it, cheap pannels and all that.

the advantages of the land rover cab on mog chassis rather than mog axles on land rover chassis are:

1- you gain the flexible chasis
2- unimog gearbox and engine
3- you still have the weight of the unimog chassis, putting mog axles on a landrover leaves a lot of unsprung weight per tonne, making the ride uncomfortable.

so here are some pics of it

currently on much wider tyres

Plans are,
disk brake conversion with drum brake rims, already half way through the disk conversion.
roll cage
full front end tilting system for easy access to the engine
possible engine conversion
possible double drum werner winch conversion on the back (we have the winch, just deciding which mog to put it on  :D )

anyway, thats all for now, im going to take some more pics tomorrow in the light.

and no, there are no plans as of yet for a respray, it took 20 years to get that paint work  :P

Thanks for reading, any questions just ask.

cheers, Brian

A strange combo. Looks like its set up for off roading but has the cut out on the rear bed for linkage and has some of the 3 point linkage there as well.

What use will you be building this one up for, farm work or off road?

Villager:
origionally this was built for off road capability with implement carrying in mind as well, rather like many standard unimogs, but now we are looking at it more from an off road side, hence the disc brake conversion etc. havent had much progress on this recently, due to the cold were working more on the vehicle we have in the garage :) but once spring/summer is here we might get something done to it :)

casto:
Lol see Brian, everyone needs a bit of landrover in there life  :P ;D

Villager:
yeah, dad tried it and fell out with it  ;)
