The U1100 416 project: Unimog Trialer!!!! (off roader)
« on: September 14, 2013, 09:41:56 pm »
Big news! we have bought another Unimog  :o :D that brings the total to 6  :P unfortunately thats one too many according to dad (although in my opinion its too few ;) ), or is it a half to many, as we did have 5 and a half mogs for a long time.  so anyway, the Landmog will be for sale soon.

Well, some more info on the new beast, i believe, is required.

What have we bought?

- U1100 416 141
- torque converter gear box
- roof of its absolutely screwed, doesnt matter anyway as we're chopping that off.
- plenty of bits to swap onto the 406 145 ;)
- disk brakes
- '78 mog
- low hours (just over 2000) and low milage

Plans

- roof off, cage on
- Mount double drum verner on the back, allows balance and recovery
- possible turbo
- lighter springs
- Spray it Unimog Club Uk colours (green and gray as mains, with a few bits orange)
- then the usual, bucket seats, harnesses etc

Got it from Atkinson vos at a reasonable price with a seized clutch, so collected it and took it to A.C. Price to sort that out, myself and dad had engine out, clutch off and cleaned (rust removed, hence why it was seized), and engine back in within 6 hours, got to be some kind of record that, got to say though we've done it enough times  :D so next is basically chop the roof off and stick a cage in it, then we're thinking about having some fun in it before putting the winch on :) havent got any pics at the mo as it was a bit of a rush to get the clutch done today and my phone went flat :/ job went well though :)

Nice one Brian. Is that the old thing that had the crane mounted to it?

I can't believe you've gone out and bought another. Time to buy your mum a tumble dryer perhaps? It must be a hell of a walk to the washing line now?! :D

Yep, thats the one, bit of an ugly duckling, useless to most people with the torque converter box, but its what we wanted for the off roader. :)

Mums got a tumble dryer, dad always moans about it being used to much, maybe it's cause of the long walk??????  ??? :D like I say, we're getting rid of the landmog a g Wagen, and the imp.

Haha! Well didn't want to rush things, and I don't like starting threads without pictures or progress :) and I'd say we have a bit of experience when it comes to working on mogs :P

here it is:

yummy long chassis, with new fuel tank  :o

front view

gear levers (ten points to the man whos spys the special lever and can tell me what its for ;) )

back windows, to replace the 145's **** ones

bottom of cab needs some work

nice and clean under the bonnet

With hydraulics, gonna fit them to the black beast, along with the air system

and dot 5 brake fluid, very nice  8)

gonna remove the glass tonight, then the roofs getting the chop :) got some heavy duty drum brake rims and some xm47's to fit to it as well, so should look a beast!

:) this one would have been no good for you anyway, it has a torque converter gear box, which is no good for running a chipper off as it dappens the force, which is no good for a chipper as you want a sharp smack :) so you would have had to fit a standard or cascade gear box.

got the glass out, should be good for the 145 as thats had **** glass for years :)
