U90 ability
« on: February 22, 2013, 04:40:24 pm »
Following on from the other topic about another "soft" Unimog I've also looked at these a few times. Same large tyres and gearbox etc but smaller engine and I think a shallower wading depth? I wonder how one would cope with light woodland management tasks?

They look appealing because of their newer cab design, user comforts and relatively low price. But are they any good? It's another option instead of a U900 and is much less likely to have issues with the body work at such a young age, but having more electrical systems surely means they'd be a right arse to maintain/repair without the right kit? Exchange a lump hammer and spanners for a laptop kind of thing?

U90 :-\ 900 is a far better machine in my opinion. u90 is gutless, its only a sprinter engine and gearbox, so they arent exactly mega strong either. definitely wouldnt go u90, plus its very difficult to get linkage for them, like hens teeth. Stick with the 900 for now  :) did you get my pm?

I did get your message but it was on my phone and I couldn't get it to send a reply. By the time I had access to my laptop it was too late! I had forgotten about that though - thanks for the reminder, and the offer.

It seems after a recent look at our accounts that I've used a bit of my mog money to get us through the winter. Looks like it's unlikely to happen any time soon now but I'll keep trying.
