That's a very nice Mog, I saw it on ebay, looks like it had a lot of work put into it.

Photos of the Mog and the restoration:

That's nice! Don't see many of those. It's good to see it's been looked after and you're very lucky to have it!

What do you plan to do with it?

I like the looks of this too :) Saw it on ebay as well. I like the way the front frame has been finished off :)

I'd like to note the tyres, which look to be Michelin XM27, (And I believe prior to that they were branded as Michelin Bib X) The XM 27 is no longer produced unfortunately (I think it's a shame 'cause they're a really nice looking tyre) and as far as I'm aware they were designed to be used on vehicles which were destined for both mud and a large amount of  grass fields. As the edges of the cleats are cut in, unlike the XM47, which the cleats stick out quite far on, and they have a 27mm tread, rather than 47mm, these tyres don't leave big dibbets in the ground, so they're good for land where minimal damage is required :)

Couple of thing's I would do personally, just cos of my preferences. I would change the current top for a cotton top, more from a view of aesthetics, you could get a tighter fit with cotton and they're also far more "mercedes" :)
Also if you plan to off road it, if it hasn't already been done, I would change the back cab mount for a single point mount, so that the chassis can flex that bit easier and safer :)

This is the same mog as we have, with the torque converter they pull like trains, one of dad's favourite things back when ours had the torque converter was to stick it in fifth at the dual carriage way traffic lights, and dump the clutch and gun it, it would out drag a lot of cars and certainly surprised most  :D

Cheers, Brian  ;D

Thanks for all the positive comments, I'm after a bit of advice now.
I'm looking at registering the MOG with DVLA as an agricultural tractor.
does anyone know the process and what i need to find out before i start the process.
The tyres are available as Michelin XM47 (rated 136G), there's a cheaper tyre available, a BKT Multimax MP513 (same speed rating). Anyone heard of BKT tyres?

Bkts are pretty good tyres, quite a few lads I know run them on their tractors.

Welcome to the forum

She's a nice looking truck! What do you plan to do with her?
Regarding registering it as agricultural, I changed mine from a snowblower to ag/forestry with no problems. I printed a pic of her with the linkage and pto shaft conected to a topper. I filled in the V5 and some paperwork off the dvla website and that was about all
cant beat the smell of diesel and 2stroke in the morning :)

I am not sure of my facts here........ but it certainly used to be the case that if you were Agricultural registered - you are not allowed to carry a load on the vehicle? People who have put load beds on Fastracks have been pulled over this?

Ok to tow a trailer with a load that is agricultural, but not a load eg a few bags of corn etc on the Ag vehicle?

There used to be a company which removed the rear tubs of Landrovers and put them back on QD as link boxes. Im not sure if this law still applies? but it would be well worth checking?

Very grey area, but this is basically the rules as far as I'm aware:

If the vehicle is classed as an agricultural VEHICLE/MACHINE you are aloud to carry a load on the load bed as long as it is your own produce for your own use, and you aren't hauling goods.
However, if the vehicle is registered as a TRACTOR you aren't aloud to carry any produce on the load bed, but you can tow a trailer with your produce on. this is because a TRACTOR is strictly classed as an implement carrier only.

I had a scout round for info on this and all I can find is......Definition of a Tractor?
Tractor used to be defined as "Mechanically propelled vehicle not constructed itself to carry a load other than equipment for propulsion, loose tools and loose equipment, uw not exceeding 7370kg" S.185(1) R.T.A. 1988
Motor tractor:

mechanically propelled vehicle which is not constructed itself to carry a load except water, fuel, accumulators tools and loose equipment and does not exceed 7370 kgs

So - be careful what you restrict yourself to? This is the definition for vehicle DVLA!
