A round of beers for one and all.
« on: February 22, 2013, 10:48:32 pm »
I guess that it's good manners to get a round in as I'm new here.
Hello all. I'm the owner of an agri 406 and an ex Rolba snow blower, soon be be agri spec.
I have been collecting parts for the 411 for a few years and slowly getting it ready to put to work.
As an ex snow blower, the unimog came with no agri parts fitted so I've managed to source items such as a new non genuine (but very good copy) rear 3 point linkage, a tipping cylinder, hydraulic control block with levers and tank, but I still need to find a set of metal pipes that attach it all together. If you know where I can get some, new or used I'd be glad to hear from you.

I think you need to get it some bigger tyres too...  ;)

It's great to hear about old machines like this being tidied up and put back to work. What do you plan to do with it when it's done? Paying work or just play? Either way it looks tidy.

Welcome to the forum. I'm a mogless mog fan at the moment so all the pictures you have are most welcome, especially of the 406! I'll get one eventually. I'm sure I could make it earn it's keep.

This is pretty much what my 411 was like when I got it, but I have just spent some time and money getting the original wheels shot blasted and painted in the original red and shod them in a new set of 7.5 x 18 agri tread tyres. I'll be so glad to see this set of wheel removed from the little 411 to make room for the proper thing.
This will be very much a rolling restoration, at least most parts can be removed for painting, such as roof doors, bonnet, rear drop sides and rear body.

Just for you my 406, battle weary, but a good work horse.

Hi tim, welcome to the club  :)

Very tidy looking 411 you have there :) are those rims 18" or 20"? also, linkage wise you can get the U600 linkage to fit, especially the single ram system as the 600 chassis is very similar to the 411 (except longer) regarding the pipes, you could get them made, i'll have a look in one of our manuals and see if there's a diagram  ;) and once you get back to standard tyre size you'll be amazed at the torque difference.
also, thats a fair linkage set up you have on the 406!
Were you at the 60 years celebration of unimog in 2011? we were in the black 900 with the silver camper body if it was you :)

Cheers, Brian  8)

The rims on the photo of my 411 are 16 inch, but the original wheels are 18 inch. These will be fitted in the next couple of weeks now that they have been sandblasted and painted in the original red.

Any advice help on sourcing metal pipes would be of great help right now. I'll be keeping an eye on any for sale stuff that will help me finish my project.

And Yes I did meet you while over in Germany at the 60 year celebration. I hope to catch up at some other shows in the future. I did take a few pictures while in Germany and will post some up if there is a place to add random pictures.

Rear linkage bought in Germany from the guy who makes it. Its not a bad copy of the original which i guess is a hard item to find here in the UK

Nothing wrong with battle weary. It's good to see the truck still earning it's keep and it looks great.

yeah the linkage looks sweet, especially if its cheaper than the uk (£1000+ on vos web site). the mounts look different on the axel. is it a bracket round or attached to the axel??

Might wanna cover the rest of the reg plate up  ;)

This mog is now on age related plate so no worries about the details on this plate as its no longer in service.

This linkage is for the 3 piece axle casing and comes with all fitting parts inc bolts and washers. There are brackets that fit to the axle tube and diff side casing along with another set of brackets to mount the chains from. All included in the kit even the chains.

Tim.

The 411 linkage is mounted differently to the 406 that your used to, it uses castings built into the axle, then the bracket fits to the casting and another one to the diff, these hold the bar on, then you can see how the rest works :) the 406 on the other hand uses the clamp system :)
