Newbee alert!!
« on: July 31, 2017, 12:50:52 pm »
Hi I'm Hazza
I'm actually the other half to Stupot on this forum but as he is too lazy to post and ask's me to look things up I thought it would just be easier to join!! I don't own a Mog but have become quite fond of them since having the chance to become quite involved with his 406.
I've browsed through your Meets section and it seems a very quite place, we are rather keen to meet up with some Mog owners and attend some shows as the final touches are being made to the refreshed old girl. We are booked in to be on display at the Rudgwick Steam and Country show on the August bank holiday weekend, would be great to know if anyone else would be attending the show with their mog's too?

We're also looking for details to go to the Veteran Unimog club in Germany for next year if anyone has and details for that as we speak no German at all! :P

Hi Hazza we find that Unimog owners come in two kinds those that work with Unimog and those enjoy Unimog I'm the exception I do both 😀 Regarding show and meets what your doing is the best way find a local show and try to raise awareness on the forum. Our local show is called Newby hall and as a rule there half a dozen unimog owners or more attend this show as the numbers have built up over the years.
My intentions regarding German shows is to wait until it's the 70th year of Mercedes Unimog in 2021 as hopefully I will have rebuilt my 1967 411 by then and intend to drive her over to Gagenaue for that one there will be a veteran meet before that but I've attended all the Mercedes ones since the 50th so is important for me to carry on the tradition.
Put some information of your local show and hopefully in your area will attend, we find people with hobby Unimogs don't like to travel long distances for different reasons .

Hazza, i think Moose has hit the nail on the head there, to some fowk its merely a machine they work with and others with hobby mogs that seem to spend more time in bits been restored (like mine).
Im sure there are others on this forum who attend the german shows if you rummage through the posts.

Yeah I see you point, I guess I'm a little more use to bike forums where nearly everyone is eager to do everything! The thought never crossed my mind to work folk and hobby folk. I'll keep that in mind.
I will stick a post up in the meet section for the fair we are attending to, I didn't want to seem rude and jump straight onto that before an intro, there can be lots of rules on some forums
Hmm 2021 for the 70th sounds like quite the pilgrimage! I don't think we will commit to that right now as I've got to convince Stu to hold onto the mog for four years. But we are just excited to go on some adventure with it. I had a quick brown through on the previous vet meet but it seems to move places some years. I'll keep looking.

Hi Hazza,

You're welcome to post on the forum, we're pretty relaxed with the rules :)
I will do some askign around about the veteran unimog meet.

Cheers, Brian
