Unimog Club UK

Well done Brian in getting the site up and running - I hope it grows into a great forum to share advice, stories and wisdom from all who have the Unimog bug..

Im hoping that with the shows we're planning to attend this year it will raise more awareness of the club, weve texted people and such but i think some people dont join until its a big forum, which doesnt make sense to me as it wont be big unless people join and post, but thats just me  the other thing is i think many unimog owners wont be the type to spend time in front of a computer to much, but once you get the hang of using the forum, its only a 5 minute job  .
I am also planning on making a completely new website that i will make from scratch, this will give me the freedom to do what i wish with it, and what others recommend, the only barrier will be my experience and knowledge. plus that way i will be able to put links on facebook which really irritates me  although this may mean having a new url such as unimogclubuk.co.uk/com as facebook may now have blocked this one as well with it having a connection to the forum hoster  this isnt a problem though as i can email people with the new address 
i would also like to get stickers to give to people that attend the shows or are willing to spend maybe 1 or 2 pound on a sticker so they can put them in there mogs/cars, but that depends on my pocket money 

it will take a lot of time and effort im sure, but i think it will eventually be a fantastic forum with lots of knowledge and experience, and interesting vehicles. plus i am also looking all the time for future moderators for the forum to take the load of me a bit

For sure it's great to see a uk forum for mogs. Lets hope that there will be some space for owners of the older classic mogs and not just the heavy weights.

I'll do my best to spread the work to keep this forum growing. As show or 2, even if part of a tractor rally would be a great idea, a chance for like minded mog owners to get together and show off their rides.
After such a wet summer last year, I am really looking forward to getting my mog out to some of the agricultural shows and hope to meet up with some of the members from here. By the way I'm down in the south west of england.

It seems that most unimog owner seem to own the big stuff which they use for their daily work and they are not the types to get into forum natter, while there has never been a UK forum for owners of the old stuff and I hope that this UK unimog forum will bring the owners out of the woodwork to create a good community both on here and out at some shows later this summer at both end of the country. There have been a few old mogs changing hands on ebay over the past few years and there are always story of people who know for other unimogs dotted about the country on farms working hard or rotting away.
A friend of mine, a fellow 411 owner (whom I'm sure will be along soon to introduce himself) suggested that getting a few old mogs together for the Great Dorset steam fair would make for quite a spectacle. One of the best show of its type that would be a great show case for some old unimog, that goes on for about a week or so.

I think you may be right about the larger business people not wanting to chat. I know of five companies down here that run at least one Mog. I guess to them it's a tool of their trade and they're not really interested in them other than in the business sense.

Only one of them has a U900 as far as I know. Then there are several square cabs and a light series tanker, I think a U140.
