Puddlejumper
« on: September 03, 2013, 08:39:30 pm »
Hi all,
I'm new to the forum so just thought I'd say hello. I'm not a Unimog owner but have always been fascinated by the vehicle.

I have owned many 4x4 vehicles (mainly Range Rovers) over the past 25 or so years and have managed to hold onto a couple of the more unusual ones. I have an Eagle RV 4x4 kit car that is Range Rover based but modelled on a Jeep CJ6, a 1970s  2 door Range Rover convertible and a couple of Suzuki LJ80s.

My passion has always been off roading hence my love of the Unimog, in MHO the most capable off road vehicle ever built.

Hi Puddlejumper :) welcome to the club.

One of the biggest posters on here doesnt own a Unimog (NJC), but thats not for want of trying!  :D

If you read some of my posts on here you'll realize that im not the biggest landrover fan, but then i do hang around with a bunch of landrover nuts on many weekends, so im not completely against them!  :D I'd be interested to see the 2 door if youve got any pics, is it an origional thing, i dont know if they ever did an origional convertible?

we're not adversed to other vehicle's here, hence why we have an "other project" section, so feel free to put some pics up. :)

in MHO the most capable off road vehicle ever built.

I like that  8)

Cheers, Brian  ;D

I thought to myself "Here we go, I've only been on here 2 minutes and they are already taking the p*** out of my name".

Thanks for the welcome though.

The two door Range Rover convertible I must have owned for getting on for 20 years, I don't think it has turned a wheel for about 5 years and is now what you would term a project. It wasn't a factory convertible but was done early in it's life by, I think a company called Carbodies in Coventry, when I get 5 minutes I'll take some pics and try to post them. I say try because I'm a bit better with spanners than I am with computers.

Ignore Brian and his hate for Land Rover products. The boy drives a Vauxhall van so he's hardly in a position to gloat! :D

Welcome to the forum Puddlejumper. I'm sure you'll have a great time here - it's a very friendly little community with heaps of info on tap.

Sorry Brian, we shouldn't keep teasing you like this! :P

I'd be really interested in some pictures of the RR. Unfortunately with me I'm better with computers than spanners. It's something I'm keen to improve upon because I really like old vehicles and they seem so simple. I'm just scared that I'll take something to bits and never get it back together again. It's part of the reason I bought my little Kubota tractor - if I do get it wrong it's easy enough to trailer back to the dealer in pieces for them to sort out!

There is a limit to how large an attachment can be, this is so the site doesn't become slow by having to store everything.
The other method is what I prefer, uploading images to photobucket, image shack, Flickr, etc, this does take quite a long time at first as you have to get used to it, but once you've used it its great. By storing the images online they'll always be there, that means you don't have to keep them on you phone etc, it also allows you to edit images, like blurring number plates. Just copy the image code onto the thread you're writing :)
There a how to thread on uploading images in the 'how do I do this' catagory :)
