The company I work for has added a Mog to its fleet for specialist recovery work

Welcome John tidy looking Unimog 1300l or 1550 ? Picture 1 your cab tilting brackets are still locked in you need to make sure these are undone or you can damage the front wings plus it doesn't help the ride.
I'm a little worried about the rear axle load with the spec lift inside the the right door attached to the dash panel is the weight plate be care not to exceed this if your going to push make sure you use a sinthetic oil in the hubs there's information on here regarding this subject.

Oh ok. Didn't realise the tilt brackets could affect ride or damage the front wings, It's a 1300L military spec. We bought it already built and it's used as a country lane weapon for heavy winching and sat nav specials, usually supermarket home delivery vans. My main gripe is the front winch in amazingly powerful however you can't pay out the cable should you need to release tension of the casualty. I'll check up on the axle rating. All information is useful as were new to mogs

The front winch is a self recovery winch Werner f64 self spooling. If you look at the picture on the right side of the winch the mushroom cap can be removed and under there will be a 27mm bolt when the winch needs rewinding turn this bolt to the right this will slacken the cable enough to free spool the drum. can I ask why you are having to snatch block in the picture ? The better winch for your purposes would be a f56 I have one that I fitted with radio remote control they have winch in and out.

There's a 14 ton tanker attached to the snatch block stuck in soft ground.
I was training a new driver in recovery techniques.
The shackle on the cable is only rated at 6.5ton
The snatch block is 9 ton making sure cable and tackle is well within its swl,
Although we didn't need 9ton of pull it was better to show heavy rigging for jobs when it's needed

Hi john your winch should have a pressure regulator on the f64 this is adjustable so the more air pressure the more the winch will pull, the pull should be set for the weakest link so making it safe.you can change cable thickness by changing the gears and chain in the end.
I think it's law in the Uk that all winches need to have a mechanical shear point before the winch fails the f64 comes with two systems the air clutch that I think yours has and a slip bearing clutch that's not adjustable.
