Tutorials / gearbox oil on U140L
« on: May 12, 2016, 09:05:04 pm »
Hi, I'm in the middle of rolling repairs on a U140L cherry picker.
Is the gearbox oil EP80/90w and where is the filler?
I have yet to get the PTO engaged to move the CP mast to let me lift the cab.

Atkinson VOS have continental AC70G in 405/70 at reasonable money. Are 405's ok on standard 11 inch rims?

It's really a question of the look. It's currently on Michelin XM27 405/70 (well worn) and I'd like to keep the tractor tyre look but trying to reduce tyre width, there doesn't appear to be any smaller high speed agricultural tyres out there. Unless I go to the michelins used by the army but am I then sacrificing grip?

Does anyone have an opinion on

12.5-20 12 PLY PETLAS PM-50 TL tyres

they have a 80kph rating so are ok for the MOG it's just the crossply vs radial tyre argument.

Introduce Yourself / chassis numbers
« on: April 02, 2015, 01:13:50 pm »
Hi Everyone

Can someone explain the chassis number system to me, my chassis starts with 406145, now South Cave Tractors say commercial spec Mogs start 406142 or 406143, he thinks the 406145 is special military build. Can anyone shed some light on this

Thanks for all the positive comments, I'm after a bit of advice now.
I'm looking at registering the MOG with DVLA as an agricultural tractor.
does anyone know the process and what i need to find out before i start the process.
The tyres are available as Michelin XM47 (rated 136G), there's a cheaper tyre available, a BKT Multimax MP513 (same speed rating). Anyone heard of BKT tyres?
