for those who are blinkered...
« on: April 17, 2013, 03:30:47 pm »
this topic started here http://www.unimogclubuk.com/general-discussion/newbie-saying-hi/msg824/#new

as some members are so stubborn ive had to move it for Ian, who was just trying to introduce himself and was instead bombarded by a couple of blinkered members  :D

so, as you were everyone...

Somewhere I know that there is a video of a Defender trying to wade that same muddy section as the U1000 and U1300L in the videos I posted. There are also pictures of some blokes working on it under floodlights to rebuild the engine a couple of hours later!

Not something I like to share but hey, it is what it is! ::)

it makes you laugh these landrover "snorkels" which are actually raised air intakes, they have a hole at the bottom of the raised intake to let any water out that get into them!  :-\ :( kind of defeats the object! >:(

lol we don't have a hole in the bottom in our snorkles plus we put high raised axle breathers in which some people manage to forget about  :D

standard on a mog  ;) and whats even better is it works through the axle, then the torque tube, then the gear box, so theres no pipes to get ripped of, apart from the flexy pipe on the front axles for the cv joint  :)

Is there really a hole in the bottom of most landy snorkels? That's just bloody daft, although I know their main use is to reduce the intake of dust. The various breathers are pretty vital - would you really overlook raising them too?

Yeah, its for when people drive down the road and they have the pipe facing forward cause it apparently increases air flow into the engine (which will be minimal, and not even noticeable) so when it rains it comes out of the bottom. and some people just dont think that they might get water in there diffs and hubs :/
