Been bitten by the Mog bug!
« on: May 05, 2017, 09:16:57 pm »
So just about managed to get the last 406 road legal and I spied another on Eblag! Drove to wales last night and collected it. The tin worms had a go at the cab but apart from that it's solid. 2.2 Merc petrol didn't show much signs of spinning but not quit on that yet even though a Cummins will be on the list. Few bits missing, no glass, no brakes, but never less very salvageable I think and too good for the chop! Vin under the bonnet missing and doesn't looked prepped for dvla/uk roads as still on blackouts.
Looking for any source of 406 body panels if anyone has any clues? :0) Many thanks.

Looks like you have your work cut out this time. You should be able to make lots of those panels I would have thought but will keep you busy.

Surely it's a 404?

Definitely sounds like you have the mog bug now! Sounds like she's gonna take a few weeks go get back on the road. At least there are plenty of 404 parts out there still, unlike 406s
cant beat the smell of diesel and 2stroke in the morning :)

I hope all goes well with the Cummins project...plenty of diesel 404 conversions out there , but I have seen 4 and 6 BTs in Landrovers and Jeep Wranglers but not yet in a 404, people always say the 404 has the same problem as the Pinz (I have one with an OM602 conversion)  the engine bay is narrow and you have a job fitting the engine in with the turbo always being in the wrong place, so it means major surgery to the 'dog box'.
