A sad day :( Unimog 411.120 westfalia for sale
« on: May 17, 2015, 08:45:19 pm »
Well I've decided it's better to sell it than keep it in the hope that I'll find the time to get it done :(

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unimog-U32-411-120-Westfalia-Rare-restoration-/281695247948?

Here's the description:

For sale is my 1964 U32 (U411) Unimog, I don't really want to sell it but I can see it's just going to sit there rotting away if I don't sell it. So I'd rather it went to someone who will spend the time restoring it.
U411 Westfalia (the same people who made the VW campervans) Unimog. These are getting harder and harder to come across, and this one is especially unusual as it's an original UK import, meaning it's spent its life in the UK.
As far as I'm aware it lived in the Isle of Man for most of it's life, until my Dad was contacted by the owner and he bought it and gave it to me as a project. it was then stored in the garden under a sheet (see pictures). Over the years I've done bits and bobs to it such as fit the diesel tank and make a battery box etc.

It's got a rear body and an assortment of different hinges for the sides, some of these are the original early 411 hinges, and some are off the later 411's.
It come's with 2 pairs of headlights, the lights that came with it, one unbranded and one branded lucas (see pics). and 1 pair that I have bought as they are Hella and I believe these will be the light's that were fitted at the factory.
Also included are the original mercedes star and "arms" the original mercedes star for the westfalia is also getting hard to come by.
The Unimog does run, but has no coolant in, so only for a short period. It starts using ether, as the glow plugs aren't connected. Mercedes fitted ether injection to 406 Unimog's from the factory for extremely cold climates, so I'm sure that ether really doesn't do any harm especially twice in 10 years.
Has 2 seats and the westfalias also came with the luxury of interior heater and windscreen demisters.

This isn't a small project, it needs a cab off rebuild, but being a Westfalia cab it's definitely worth restoring, even the standard 411's are better than having money in the bank at the moment.

I would ask that anybody who is interested in bidding comes to view the Unimog before doing so, so they can see what's involved in it.

A battery can be provided for loading onto a trailer, but will be removed upon loading.

There are no documents with the vehicle, and it's never been registered in England.

The starting price is because I can break it as parts for more.
Please don't ask what the buy it now price is, there isn't one, it's an auction.
I would prefer cash on collection, but a bank transfer would also be ok. No paypal or cheques please.
Sold as seen.

Sad times indeed. I'm gutted that you're letting it go.
