Sorry BWSwede, I assumed that you owned an ex military U900 419, they're basically a 406, but with extra power and military spec.
The 417 gearbox come's from the later U900's (U900.417) they're the one's with a standard 900 cab but a square roof, and was also fitted to some MB tracs I believe.

Neil, I can't think of a reason not to fit an underbelly PTO to your Mog. The only thing I'm aware of is some of the earlier gear box's had a pipe running through (Visible when the square plate is removed from the bottom side of the gearbox), This stops the gear for the PTO from mating with the other gears. However, as far as I'm aware, the pipe's only there for extra lubrication during severe off roading, and can thus be chopped out in most cases. 
P.S. We have a spare PTO which Dad MIGHT be willing to sell if you speak to him nicely ;)
