i've tried writting this 3 times now but the internet keeps crashing 

most big chippers are 1000rpm, i have a 540rpm chines thing which is a bit s**t lol. you could run 1000rpm chipper on 540rpm but its more stress and wear on the chipper plus the chute blocks up easier.

also if like me you get dragged into farm work, having 540 means you can run all the farm implements.

it is nice having cascade, especially now i know how to use the splitter gear
