Generally when people buy linkage they forget about the top link bracket. ive never heard of one breaking, theyre not the type of thing to break, quite strong.

mogs get broken and separate bits sold as theyre required. :)

Hi Neil

Give this man a ring about second hand bits, he is probably the best mobile Unimog fitter I know (based in Wroughton, Swindon) and he sometimes has spares. Ken Day 07836 386286

cheers

Thanks Tony. I've heard good things about this chap. I was only talking to another U1000 owner last week and he also suggested I contact him if I need help with servicing etc. I already had his number, but until recently have not had any feedback to go by.

I will give him a call when funds allow. Having just bought the mog and received my tax bill, I'm not feeling too flush right now! :'(

hi,

Just read the thread.  I have a 4.4 tonne / metre crane on my 406 on a de-mountable frame.

Max recommended MB gross weight of the mog is 6 tonne and with the crane on it's 5.3 tonne so not much weight for a chipper.

If your only after a 6" chipper get a tracked one and put it on the trailer or put 3 point link on the chipper and carry it on the mog.  I do this with mine and it works fine, means you can drive to the tree, and save dragging the branches too far, even persuade the owner to keep the chip as well.

Tracked chippers are also good for pulling trees over as it's easy to get in line with the tree when a little assistance is required, ideal for domestic jobs.  Mine also has a towball so it can drag the trailer around.

Crane on the mog is brilliant, very useful on all sorts of jobs, especially removals when the tree is resting on the house!

If you want some pictures have a look at my 'hello thread' to see what it's like.
