Hi Joe,

You can get all kinds of gear boxes with the 900's, you can get the standard 2x6 gear box, which is 2 reverse and 6 forward. then there's the 4x4 box, which is 4 reverse and 4 forwards. Then there's the 24 speed cascade box, which is technically 20 speed as 4 off those gears are the same speed. Then there's hydrostatic drive box, which is a bit rare as they served a limited number of uses, the hydrostatic drive is basically like what some lawn mowers have. and then there's the torque converter fly wheel as well.
The 2x6/4x4 boxes aren't too bad to repair, but if you ever have issues with a cascade box, they can be big money to fix. looking at what you're planning, I'd recommend the cascade, with 540/1000 rpm pto.

Axle wise, as with all Unimogs (except the UX100, which i think Merc just put the "unimog" brand on for the sake of it.) They have portal axles, with three different diff ratios, and off the top of my head 2 different hub ratios. finding high ratio axles is hard work though, and the standard ratio mogs usually do 48mph anyway.

And don't worry about asking questions, that's what the forums here for :P

Cheers, Brian
