Hi this is a massive subject what size project would you be looking at what's your budget as axles vary in price size disc brake drum saying that all the older Unimog axles have difflocks and all bar a few have portal axles pinion modification is easy enough if you have the tools, pinion position to transfer output is vital.
Putting Unimog axles under something you want to use on the road is a hole new ball game yes it's possible but your talking about axles that can weigh 200to 400 kg each and if you put that under a light chassis on the road you have a massive unstrung weight to control awesome offroad not so good on road.
Let me know what your looking to do I have three sets of axles at the moment a pair of u600 a pair of u900 and a pair of u1000 disc brake axles.
