That explains some things you've said in the past...

How does the 4*6 gearbox cope with that much power anyway? It's nearly double what it was designed to handle.

its not too bad, as long as you drive it right. with this its not a problem at all cause its a torque converter, so that  reduces the shock on the drive chain.

anyway, few updates,

fitted a paper filter to it, which we got from mr casto in exchange for an oil one. modifed it to a stainless shell since the old shell was rotton out





also removed the hydraulics


fitted the pto shaft




got the wrong size shaft on the centre block, so we're going to have to change that :-/

bolted the rubber boot in the foot well



fitted a new oil cooler, its shiny cause we had it fitted to the imp once :D





and their we go, most of this was done by dad, as ive had some long hours at work lately. any questions just ask :)

Yeah I've got one... What are the measurements for those tilt brackets on the cab? My passenger side one is missing! ;)

Looks good. The centre block is a different setup to the 406 though? Mine was side bolted to the chassis? That makes your oil filler on the top, which is much better than on the side where mine is!

i'll get the measurement for you if you want?

im not sure about the filler on the centre block, if its on the top im not sure if you can fill it cos i would imagine the plate is in the way, ill have to have a look :)

Measurements would be really helpful.

Ignore me re the bearing. I glanced at it and spotted the bolt in the bit that the shaft bolts to... It's not the filler hole at all! If they're on their side do you have to remove it to fill it, or are they only filled half full?

done some welding to the cab, im pretty chuffed with it, especially as its the first panel repairs ive ever done :)

Arhhh I almost bought this mog!!! I had a trip up to vos to look at it and decided it was too much of a project to make into a work vehicle. That was when I spotted my u900 at the top of the main yard. When I viewed it there was another chap from Harrogate with his father looking at it. Was that you? It did have a shiny new fuel tank :)

yeah that was us :D tbf its not really any good for what you want, its got a torque converter box which isnt any good for chippers, because the impact is taken out by the fluid fly wheel, hence theres no proper smack with chipper blade. :) and you would have needed a new cab. the top on this one was made of filler :D

That looks good, it is so nice to put some proper metal back into the cab and have it looking right when you finish.
I recon we should have a group buy on mig wire and gas :D

thanks :) i remember when i was younger the guy that does the body work for ACP told me that when you do body repairs, always cut at least an inch past the rust/rot if possible, that way your working with good steel. :) i have to say on a couple of places on this cab i havent been able to go very far past the rust, and its been a right pain  :D

we have both 1.0 and 0.8 mm wire, i have to say though, i find using the .8 a right pain  >:( much prefer the 1mm

The more I look at my cab, the more I think I'd be better off cutting it off at the mounts and putting a landy body on it... ;)

Oh and did you sort the shaft out? The more I look at it the more it bugs me... Why does it bolt onto the cross member? Mine is fitted to a bracket where the four holes are in the main rail... There's some blue paint there on yours. If that bracket was there, the shaft you have looks like it would fit?

You're going to have to have a look at that for me, it's driving me nuts looking at it!
