Here are some of the pictures of my new toy.
As you can see it has no rear bed, I am planning to make another flat bed. One for looks, but also to help load the hay bails on. (My wife and her friend have horses)
My main plan is for an off road play thing, but will be road legal.
Its been sat at work for many years, the boss told them to use it as a work hack, to jump start and tow our vehicles.
No one bothered with it so it just sat there.
Some kids broke in and kicked in the Windows.  I have new ones (€18 each)
I will do a build thread when I get it home.

Looks like a fairly tidy truck apart from the windows.

With such a bare start vehicle I'd be tempted to find some sort of box van body to make a camper. You could make it so it could mount to a flatbed and lift off on some sort of prop arrangement. That way on off road events you could take it to the site with all your kit in the body, then drive out from under it and go and play and still have a nice home to return to in the evening!

A bit adventurous perhaps? But it's something I've considered doing to mine. Check out the pictures of U900 that belongs to Moose and Villager... They've converted a Hagglund back end to mount on their spider frame. It looks amazing!

That sounds like a good idea, brilliant for camping!

I will look at their pictures.

Just been speaking to a friend, apparently my neighbour (the farmer behind us) has three 404's in his barn,  the chap has been working on them for 20 odd years (well he drove them into the barn, took the cabs off and that's where they have stayed!
So I will go and see him, I know him, but have never looked in his barn, but he will be a typical farmer, they collect the stuff and won't get rid of anything
"I'm going to do that up one day"  :D :D

So perhaps I could have one for towing, one for off road, one for........   :D

Ooh ooh  my moggy is home!!!!!  :D :D

Loaded it up on my trailer today, then took it into the cleaning bay to give it a jet wash, get rid of some of the 20 year old dust and pidgeon poo!
She is in my garage now, but it's too chilly out there to fiddle! I will get the heater going in the next day or two and have a good look at her, decide what to do, will take some pictures also.

I took off the door tops and rear screen because I want to try and clear them up a little.
They are in excellent condition but the plastic has gone a little mysty.

Has anyone done this with success?  And if so what product did you use!
I have been told to try brasso, but im not sure about that?
It will be a shame if they can't be saved, as the canvas is like new.

Hi Shaun, I will do an item on my 404 as you request - just need time to pull stuff together! I see your Mog and you are thinking about rear load beds? I stumbled across an aluminium bed from a Ford Transit here in UK - I didn't think it would be any good and that I would have to modify a lot - but....... it fitted straight on with some channel for a sub chassis ( see pic) It has quickly removable sides and tailgate and the corner posts just lift out - leaving a flat bed for 36 small bales or a camper drop on -  I will dig out more pics!

That really is an interesting cab! I'd love to hear more about how it was created.

Regarding the windows, one of the best plastic polishes I have ever found is toothpaste. It's such a fine abrasive that it doesn't leave any scratches, and it works a treat. I'm not sure if it would clear your windows but it's got to be worth a try on a corner to see how it goes. I've only ever used it on coloured items

Thanks for the replies,

I looked at a few options for the bed, my neighbour has a 404 bed sat in his barn, he took it off one of his. But they are quite heavy.
The other option is to make my own, then I can make it as I want it, bespoke. We shall see, I'm in no rush as I need to fix one or two oil leaks.
I will give the toothpaste a go, like you say perhaps on a corner. Will let you know how I get on.

So, I had a little search on Google.  There was various opinions what to use but the one that had
The most praise was Pledge furniture polish.
So I gave that a go. Here are the results below.  The plastic was mysty like a shower glass.
