Hmm, what can I say? Well I'm pretty short of ideas and I do my best not to think. And as for my opinion - well I like it here so I'll keep that to myself! :-*

At least I spotted bits of Unimog in some of the pictures... :D

;) as i know youre a VAG man i new you wouldnt exactly jump on this, but i have got to say, the vauxhall is a far superior vehicle, its much lighter and more comfortable. my sister used to work for vw, i have this argument all the time, the fact is VAG fans are blinkered :P . when my caddy broke down it had 160000 miles on it, when i got my combo it had 160000 miles on it, its just crossed the 200000 miles mark and all its had whilst ive had it is a new cambelt (due to service interval) and a ball joint, oh and tyres. its nearly due some new brake pads but i can get a couple of thousand more out of these :) this is whats put me of VAGs, with the caddy i had nothing but problems, the combo has been great (touch wood) caddy had 40000 less miles and gave me more headaches :P

as for the sound system, what can i say, i like music, and not just this chavvy stuff that people like to put through their subs these days ( i do like it every now and then though, just the bass is immense :D :) ) i like proper music, such as acdc, led zeplin, guns and roses, sum 41, nickleback :) when i'm on forums everyone associates me with 'Mog's, thats great, but i like to be versatile, and i love working on cars, something normal and simple :) even on the old caddy forum people new me for the mogs,  i just like to show that i like normal stuff just as much  ;)

the seat conversion explains it self really :)

and yes, where isnt there some mog in my life! :D the mog in the background is missing an axle at the mo :O

Oh, better put i had a pin prick hole in a water hose as well in the combo :P

any way, im going to carry on transferring some replies after ive read other posts :)

Big update, the seats are in! :D

First of i needed to check if this bracket was required for the pivot point on the back rest. it wasnt, so i cut it out  :)

I welded the base brackets on first, although now i know what im doing it would have been simpler to weld the back into place, i'll explain why further in :)

anyway, pictures of the bottom of the bases

welded them in, didnt get any pictures during the process.

then had a gander underneath and was chuffed to see these underneath :p

theyre the captive nuts for the center brackets on the back rests. this is why i wished id started with the backrests first. it wouldve made it much easier to line everything up :)
so i drilled through from the bottom, and bolted the backs in at the center, one of the nuts was right above the tank, so i couldnt get to it and had to go from the top, using the brackets hole as a guide, i got it bang on though even though the hole was elongated, like a boss  8)

anyway, after id got the bases in and the backs bolted in at the middle i could weld all the other brackets in place :) it was pretty easy from this point as everything mounted to the seats in some way, except the stands that the base sits on which were a bit awkward, heres a pic before i painted them, forgot to take an after pic as i was a bit excited to get the job done  :-\

only thing i cant work out is where the bottom bolt goes for the seat belt, there is a cut out for the belt in the plastic trim, but i dont know where it bolts to the floor.

if anyone knows or even better has pics that would be awesome :P

anyway pics of it all together

from the back

from the front

plenty of leg room

plan to get seat covers with the same pattern as the front eventually, no rush though, seat covers are seat covers :)

tie down eye for when the seats are down :)

the brackets that the seats sit on, and also note the way the seat belt buckles are clipped to the seats, this is for when you fold the base back down so that the buckles are held out of the way :)

the base pivot points

folded up

the trim on the other side is the original from my van, so it doesnt go deep enough :( so im gonna mod it so that it turns out like a pocket  8)

the sub box fits perfectly between the rear arches unbelievably, i planned it of course  ;)

it all needs a good clean which is what will be happening over the weekend, also going to be making visits to the scrappers to see if theyve got any corsa c's.

personally im dead chuffed, dont think youd know if it had proper seat covers on  :)

as usual thoughts, ideas and opinions welcome :)

cheers, Brian

so this weekend refitted my amp, ive put it behind the plastic trim so its well out of the way.

put some shielding on the bottom edge were the wires go so they dont rub
struck it up and it sounds epic! :D 8) better than it did before, think the sub facing forward rule is only if its in the boot of a car, cause the bass in this is incredible! makes the seats vibrate more than ever. :P

then finally figured out where the seat belt anchors go, stuck my finger through a grommet hole in the arch and felt the threaded hole, so drilled by feel on the side with the door, then took measurements of that side and used them on the side without the door :)

As usual, thought ideas and opinions welcome.

this was my last post on friday

just bought a 1200 watt 12 inch kenwood sub, gonna run it off the 720 watt amp for now, amps about half way between the rms and max output of the sub, so should be safe. gonna save up for another sub and 2 1000 watt amps to drive them. so gonna be bouncing soon, then eventually gonna be causing earth quakes!  :) :D :P

I've got to admit that I do like the seat setup in the back. Very well thought out and practical. Are there any legal hoops to jump through when converting a van to carry more passengers? Something like that would be perfect for a mate of mine.

none really, just the usual like informing insurance company, some insurers might require you to get them tested according to internet gossip.
ive heard that the only time you need to talk legal is when you start putting windows right at the very back (past the sliding door) as in theory its then becoming a car.

so, got bck today to find casto lurking around the back of one of our mogs! :O fortunately i knew he was coming ;)
so he was there to see me get dead excited when i found a nice big square parcel :D

so at around 6:00 i finally got to play with it, old (left) vs new (right)  8)

you tell me which is better  :D

so had to cut the mounting hole a bit bigger as the woofer cage is bigger on the 1200 watt unit, but after i'd done that slotted in nicely :) and after a couple of wiring adaptions

gave it a quick try, couldnt really test it as youre supposed to let a sub settle in, and cant leave it in the van as i need it for work for the rest of the week. but i'd definitely say theres more of a rumble low down :D

Thoughts, ideas and opinions welcome :)

cheers, Brian  ;D

fitted a new alternator, my old one died, took ages as well, id start the van and the alternator light was on, rev it to 2500 rpm and it would go out  :D typically it died at 5 oclock at night, just when i had a long drive home  ::)

got some fabric yesterday as well for covering my sub

first job, sand the box, then i routed the edges of the 6x9 holes so they had a nice round edge

then it was just a matter of sticking the fabric on, ive done it so that its seamless

note the way the fabric goes smoothly around the 6x9 hole. i also bolted the sub on rather than screws, that way the mdf doesnt wear out with screws being removed all the time.

im quite chuffed, looks a lot better than it did.  8)

thoughts ideas, and opinions welcome :)

Cheers, Brian
